Mark was born and raised in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.
He attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater
and obtained a B.A. degree, summa cum laude, in 1982.
He graduated from the DePaul University College of Law
in Chicago, IL in 1985. He passed the bar examination
in Wisconsin in the summer of 1985 and was admitted
to the Wisconsin bar later that year.
Mark began practicing law in January 1986 as a trial
attorney for Wausau Insurance. He handled worker's compensation
and personal injury cases throughout Wisconsin in that
position for the next 21 years. He began practicing
with the Law Offices of James L. Bartells in May 2007.
He now represents people in worker's compensation, personal
injury, and Social Security Disability cases.
Mark is a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association, the
Marathon County Bar Association, and the Wisconsin Association
of Worker's Compensation Attorneys (WAWCA). He currently
is on the WAWCA Board of Directors serving as treasurer.
Mark and his wife Kathy have resided in Wausau since
1986. They have two children, Andrew and Michael. Andy
is currently attending UW-Madison and Mike is a senior
at Wausau East. Mark and Kathy are both very active
in their church and have spent the last 21 years chasing
to their boys' sporting events. Mark has been a youth
baseball and basketball coach as well as a Boy Scout
leader.
