The claims adjuster won’t return my phone calls; what should I do?
Insurance carriers are supposed to promptly investigate claims and notify you whether your claim will be accepted or denied. By rule, insurance carriers must provide notice of their decision within 14 days of the work injury, or within 14 days of receiving notice of the injury if that notice came more than 7 days after the injury. Unfortunately, insurance carriers don’t always meet this deadline. Worse still, claims adjusters will sometime keep you in limbo for weeks, or even months, following a work injury. If the claims adjuster handling your claim is not responsive, you should consider retaining an attorney to help you move your claim forward.
